Matt, I see that you have joined our forum and I'd like to welcome you! Also congradulations on your teams success at the Spring Fever.
Are there any techniques or observations that you found that are particular to making the F-18HT or Jav 2 go faster? You and W.F. obviously found some buttons to push.
I am not looking for a report of the speed of the Jav 2 vs other cats. I wondered if you'll had any specific techniques or incite. Of course, I would love to hear from Randy Smyth about the same subject, but I do not know if he visits this forum.

Fred,
I thought that I'd mention one technique that Matt and myself found to be useful.
When tacking the boat, the crew can pass in front of the mast. I would stand up, grab both diamond wires (one in each hand), cross the boat by steping on the mainbeam, roll my shoulders as I crossed to rotate the mast, and finally help the main "flop over" with the palm of my outboard hand.
This keeps my weight forward, helps "roll the boat", makes the mast rotate smoothly and lessens the disruption of flow by helping the main to across.
I hope that this helps a little.
