Team USA will be represented at the European F-18HT Championships on the Adriatic coast of Italy by three teams consisting of Randy Smyth/Dave Chamberlain, Matt Struble/W.F. Oliver, and Brian Lambert/Jason Sneed. The Europeans promise to be great competition for our team.
The first wave of sailors will arrive Thursday and Friday (June 27 &28), with Brian and Jason following on Monday 7/1. I will be using this forum to keep everyone updated on our visit, so check this forum often.

W.F.-Can you or Peter post photos from your Italian trip on this forum? If not, can Peter post some on the main F-18HT webpage.
PLEASE send loads of pic and storys, so that us "working stiffs" can enjoy! I know that "Team USA" will do us proud. Have a great time and sail fast.

I have been following the class for the past couple of months. The progress is impressive and there does seem to be a solid class unity. Congratulations.
The Italian trip that several of the class members have planned in the coming week will be fun to follow. Where exactly is the regatta being held? Please post lots of photos of the regatta.

The Javelin A and B (or Javelin 2) Europeans will be held at Bellaria-Igea Marina (ten miles north of Rimini, the place made worldwide known by the Italian film director Federico Fellini) from July 3 to July 6 2002. The small town is located in the north part of the Adriatic Sea. The prevailing wind force for the season is 2/4 Beaufort. Randy Smyth, Matt Struble and WF Oliver will attend also the A class National Event to be held on June 29/30 at the same sailing club which will host the Euros.

Final results 1) Matt and WF 8 wins (perfect score) 2) Marcolini- Morelli 3) Brian and Jason The last two races were sailed with 12 knots of wind. All the US teams sailed new factory boats. Anyway WF brought with him a lot of stuff to rig the boat as his own in the US
