Hi guys, the first Javelin 2 European Championship (open to all F18HT catamarans) will start on July 3, 2002 at Bellaria-Igea Marina (Italy), the place where BIMARE boatyard is located, on the Adriatic Sea coast. This event is no doubt the most important F18HT event to be held in 2002 and probably the most important F18HT event ever. For the first time an highly qualified group of US catsailors, Randy Smyth/????, Matt Struble/WF Oliver and Brian Lambert/Jason Sneed will fly to Europe to meet the best Italian, French and Swiss F18HT crews. There will be also a few very special BIMARE guests entering the regatta: it is confirmed the participation of Scott Anderson, twice A Class World Champion and Olympic Tornado medalist, but it is very likely the participation of other three A Class and one Tornado World Champions. So stay tuned. I'll try to keep you informed

David Chamberlain will be meeting up with Randy Smyth in Italy to crew in the F-18HT (Javelin 2) Euros. David is an American who lives in Europe. So the American F-18HT contingent is now made up of:
Randy Smyth/David Chamberlain Brian Lambert/Jason Sneed Matt Struble/W.F. Oliver (me!)
I think that Team USA is well represented in this most important F-18HT event! We all look forward to the trip and will be leaving for Italy next week.
I will send our crack webmaster, Peter Cogan, updates of the trip and racing action! I am sure that Peter will find the best way to keep the class members updated.
