I would like to extend congratulations to Matt Struble and Domonique Martin for their impressive win in the 2002 Alter Cup Championship. For those of you who don’t know, this means that Matt and Dom are the US Sailing National Multihull Champions! Matt and Domonique (Dom, see I spelled it right!) sailed so well that they could have stayed on the beach for the last race and still won the Championship! The fact that neither had sailed on a Hobie Tiger prior to the event is amazing, especially since at least five 2002 Alter Cup teams sail regularly on the Hobie Tigers.
This is the second straight Alter Cup Championship for Matt, as he won last year with Mike Kletke as crew. Because I often have the privilege to crew for Matt, I had faith that Matt would place at the top of this talent-laden event. As a class, we can look forward to sailing with this top team. Congratulations to other F-18HT sailors making the Alter Cup finals-Chris Brown, Ken&Ian Marshack, and Brian Lambert. In fact, all of the F-18HT class members in the initial 20 teams made the final cut! Outstanding! Don’t forget that the Alter Cup Chairman, Jamie Diamond, is one of the original US F-18HT members. Now, if I can just win the Alter Cup Eliminations for next year………..
I look forward to racing with all of these sailors and the other class members in the future!

Ditto on the congratulations to Struble and Martin, as well as the Marshacks, Lambert, and Brown.
With sailors like this, not to mention Olympic Medalist Randy Smyth, the class will benefit from "talent osmosis"!
Any word on what boat will be used for next year's Alter Cup?

Matt and Dominiques's performance was nothing short of spectacular! A hearty "Great Job!" to all the F-18HT sailors competing in the Alter Cup.
