Everyone needs to preregister for the 2002 North Americans, so do it!
Also, it would be smart to get your hotel reservations very soon. Nascar has a race on the same weekend in Homestead.
Try Rick's Place 305-451-3287
Amoray 305-451-3595
Kelly's 305-451-1622
Neptune's 305-451-0357
Gilbert's 305-451-1133
I look forward to seeing you all down souoth!

Just checked out the new Cat Sailor preregistration page and saw that more F-18HT sailors are using this than any other class . The page address to preregister is www.catsailor.com/registration/index.phpI also found that Neptune's has rooms for very reasonable rates ($50/night). The Holiday Inn pricing was very high and they are trying to take advantage of us due to the NASCAR event ($250/night!). I have stayed at the Neptune when I went snorkling with my family. It is simple but clean. There is a list of hotels in W.F.'s lead off post. I hope to see and meet all the F-18HT class members in Key Largo this November. Steve

If the logging is US$ 250 per night then I'll cancel my F16 nationals trip today.
For that kind of money I can't come over.
Nacracando, how far is neptune's from Ricks place ? Did you inquire how much room they have left ?

Wouter,
You seem to be overreacting. I used the Holiday Inn as an example of what could happen, if someone waits too late to make lodging arrangements. $250 was the rate THEY want and I mentioned rates for as little as $50 per night. Take a deep breath, pick up the phone (e-mail?), and get a reservation at one of the more reasonably price hotels. I would also advise your fellow class members to do the same. I noticed that noone has preregistered for the F-16HP Nationals. What is up? The Neptune had a few rooms available two days ago and probably still do, however I would reserve them now. I would check out the other hotels that are posted on this thread as well. The Holiday Inn is trying to rip people off, but there are deals to be had.
I would reserve my rooms now, as they will go pretty fast with NASCAR nearby. Good vacation (regatta) planning can save a lot of headaches and $$$.

Steve,
I did notice you quote of 60 USD for neptunes that is why I asked you wether you know if there are rooms available.
My reaction to the 250 USD quote was an expression to my amazed of what some resorts ask for bed during the night.
About preregistering; I think things are going well; just a simple case of "when the first sheep crosses the damn, ...."
Be seeing you there.

Several people have called me with questions about the F-18HT North Americans. I am sure that Rick White will answer any of your questions, as will I. Please keep in mind that Rick has had a death in the family recently. Family illness and tragedy can take a heavy toll on those involved, so please be patient.
Again, if you have any unanswered questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at williamoliver@aol.com I look forward to a great North Americans in the Key Largo!
Sail Fast and Light,
W.F. Oliver
PS-
Please preregister for the North Americans via Rick's new registration page. This will help him plan for the NA's. This registration page actually downloads to the Sailwave scoring program, therefore saving a lot of double data entry.
Also, do make hotel/motel reservations early (NOW), before all the reasonable rates are taken.

Just wanted to put another bug into everyone's ear about preregistration for the F-18HT North Americans. Please go to www.catsailor.com/registration/ and register, if you are considering attending the event. If you plan on placing your boat onto the class trailer for delivery to the North Americans, then you must do so straight away, as the trailer has only one remaining spot. A second class trailer could be made available, however another driver would have to volunteer. Reasonably priced hotel and motel reservations can be found now, however they price will rise rapidly, due to the NASCAR race in Homestead. Make those reservations early and save. See you all there!
