The F-18HT class had its best showing yet at the Summer Sizzler with 9 boats racing.
I could not make it down, as I am hospitalized after a car crash. I did get these preliminary results for you all:
1st Matt Struble and W.F. Oliver 2nd Randy Smyth and Will Rodring 3rd Chris and Jean Brown 4th Brian Lambert and Jamie Livingston 5th Steve Piche and John Tomko
Maybe some of the participants can fill us all in about the racing and conditions?

I was trying to make it down to watch the F-18HTs in Va Beach, but I got in a wreck in the Hampton Roads Tunnel on Friday night! Every one is OK, but my car is totalled.
How did the racing go? I see that Matt/W.F. won and Randy Smyth was second. How close was the racing between them? Were the other HT sailors challenging? What were the conditions? Is someone going to write an article?
I am also interested in the A-Class, so how did that go?
Thanks-in advance-for the info. You'll's class seems to be on the right track!

I hope you guys drive boats better than you drive cars!
Just kidding, I hope that trust that both of you are OK.

While visiting Va Beach for a SEAL team reunion, I got a look at the regatta on Chick's Beach. Things have changed since I races cats! I raced Hobie 16s many years ago while I was stationed in Hawaii.
I had never seen a spinnkaer equipped catamaran before Sunday. Those things can GO! I will be moving back to Va Beach in a year or so and will be joining you all on the water. The racing looked like a lot of fun.
Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the video from the copter?

I had a great time on the HT this weekend!!!!
It was my first time on the boat and it sails great!! The weather was a little soft on Sat, but Sunday was so nice! I can't wait to see the video from the chopper!!! I have to say that all the tiger sailors who posted on catsailor that the HT class's talent was too good for it's own good are WRONG!!! The raceing was tight! I can't see that a slowbie cat tiger can nearly as much fun as this boat is!! We were [glow=red,2,300]killing[/glow] the I-20's upwind and down! I was impressed to say the least.
Hope to be out sailing the boat again some time soon.

You might want to check the results because we an I 20 beat all the 18 Ht's in the first four races the first day ( check the times )and over all just 2 where ahead of us Matt and Randy. David
