It has been a couple of years since I owned a cat and I have not been following the latest design trends and their succes. Sometimes I wonder how it is possible that a 67 (wasn't it) design, the Tornado, is still a hard act to follow for most new cats.... Anyway, to get to the point, what are the pro's and con's when it comes to wave piercing designs like the flyer/fox/bimare and the more traditional hulls with more volume in the bows like the Inters/Ventilo etc and is there a noticeable performance difference? I would think, especially with the more powerful designs you really need more volume in the bows, if only to make the boat a little less unstable (more forgiving...) Talking to Boyer in Australia (Remember I live in Singapore), he claims there is not a real performance difference between his Mark IV and the Flyer he is producing. If anything its just that the better sailors have moved on to the newest design..... anybody?
